I open the mirror of my mind and invite the viewer into my world. I've always been drawn more toward the realm of fantasy because it contains ideas and concepts that one doesn't see in everyday life. Even though there are aspects of reality entwined in the substance of it, it's put together in a way that bends the rules. It might be light-hearted and whimsical, or dark and foreboding. It waits to be discovered just around the corner, between the pages of a book, through a keyhole, or just by following starlight.
My mother put a pencil in my hand when I was three. Drawing and coloring are probably one of my earliest core memories. I create in graphite, colored pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and digital media. I am always asking "What if?" I have the ability but I've never really needed to create what could be easily seen in the mundane world. Though some creatures in this world are magical in their own right.
My art concentrates on my own inner mythology that dreaming has revealed to me over time. Conceived in that space between waking and sleeping, my art affords me the opportunity to share some of this world with others. I want to remind people that the imagination is a muscle and we should flex it as much as possible if only to see what comes out.
There is magic in the unexpected.
